Pray for child and family as they prepare for the sacraments of 1st Holy Communion or Confirmation.
Note that there is not necessarily any direct contact between you and the child to perform this ministry. |

Confirmation Catechist |
|
|
Description of Role |
To help young people understand and deepen their faith.
Teach teenagers the catechism of the church and prepare them for Confirmation as part of the Confirmation programme. |
|
Time Required |
As part of a programme you need to attend sessions, typically monthly.
Three preparation sessions, 6 meetings of 2 hours each and a day retreat. |

Gifts & Talents |
Ability to befriend, empathise with and guide young people.
Ability to work as part of a team.
Knowledge of the catechism of the church. |

Support Provided |
Completion of a Criminal Records Bureau (CRB) check in line with the Diocesan Safeguarding Policy
An annual support day is organised by the Diocese
A written Confirmation programme is available to follow, and resources are provided.
Expertise is available for support in the Pastoral Area. |

Adult Formation |
|
|
Description of Role |
To help people understand and deepen their faith – deeper faith leads to deeper commitment
Teach adults the Catholic faith through programmes such as Alpha, RCIA, Baptism, Marriage and ongoing Formation. |
|
Time Required |
As part of a programme you need to attend the sessions.
For Alpha and RCIA these are weekly for ten or twelve week terms, plus occasional Saturdays.
Befriend and walk alongside those involved |

Ability to befriend, empathise with and guide other adults.
Ability to work as part of a team.
Knowledge of the beliefs of the church. |
